Lipstick Jungle moves to a new night

You get a two-fer on this one, because Lipstick Jungle aired a new episode on Wednesday and before we could catch our breath, it aired a new episode on its new night – Friday. My favorite scene on Wednesday’s episode was when Nico and Griffin exchanged stories on how someone else’s ignorance reminded them of how hard they’d have to work to succeed. I also like how they’ve flipped the gender roles between Nico and Kirby where she pays for everything and he can’t afford anything. I’m not sure if she is as sensitive to his issue as she should be, but she had common sense enough not to say anything when he had to send some of the Chinese food back.

The consulting producer for the show is Yvette Lee Bowser, and if that name sounds familiar, it’s because she was the writer/producer of such shows as Living Single, A Different World and Hanging with Mr. Cooper.

I know the video is low-quality, but see if you recognize the fellow in red

In Friday’s episode, Victory has a fashion show. Three days prior, she fires her publicist (played by Rosie Perez) and spends the entire rest of the episode scurrying and shrieking. Her friends come to the rescue, including her ex-flame contractor. Nico is starting to get inklings of motherhood, which frustrates me because the media has made it seem like it’s nothing for a 40+ woman to pop out a baby. Yes, plenty of older (in child-bearing years) women have healthy babies, the health risks still exist, even for women who can afford the best in health care. Maybe they’ll present an issue where this reality forces Nico to make a decision. What’ll probably happen is that she’ll take care of her late husband’s baby, because that young tart is clearly feeling the stress of new motherhood.

  1. I’m sorry, but it is common sense not to fire your event planner before the event. More importantly Yell at her, AND fire her! That was common sense to me. But I’m excited to see how the proposal plays out.
