Video Ho’s Get Their Own TV Show

On March 8th, E! presents Candy Girls, a look into hip-hop’s first ladies. Well, ladies who are interested in doing a reality TV show to boost their career. Danielle is head of a talent agency, Kysha is Danielle’s assistant and April is a stylist (an Tyson Beckford’s baby mama). Her clients include Blanca, Terricka, Olivia and Brooke.

Candy Girls is the type of show that the video vixens (sometimes known as a video hos) have been waiting for. The opportunity for the music video to actually turn into a legitimate stepping stone to 15 minutes of more fame. Undoubtedly, they’ll expect this to segway into acting roles, a singing career, and/or a way to create their own fashion line.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d be in a music video. My ego would require that I play a starring role in a short-film-like video (think Ashanti’s Foolish, or J.T.’s What Goes Around), instead of gyrating in leather hot pants and a bra. But what never ceases to amaze me is when people think that starring in a music video (or reality show, or porn movie) is going to be their first step to superstardom. If you think about it, you can probably name more actors that have become politicians than you can reality stars/video vixens/porn stars that have gotten top billing with a major motion picture studio.

Nonetheless, my affection for tacky reality has me interested. I can’t help but to give it a try.
